Mifflin County Sportsmen Association

Blackjack Challenge Rules

GENERAL INFORMATION

MCSA is going to run a modified Black Jack Challenge. Registration will start at 7:15 and run till 8:00 with a start time around 8:30. We need to keep to a strict time for registration, so we have time to get set up in the scoring shed. Cost will be $25 per gun. No guns larger than .308 cal. and no magnums. Range Master has the right to disqualify any rifle for destruction of targets. You may only register ONE rifle. You may bring a second rifle as backup, but you can only register to shoot one rifle. You may shoot your rifle either from the bench (which most of us do) or if you choose you may shoot prone between the benches.

Coarse of fire will be 12 rounds in 2 minutes at plates hanging in descending order from 12” – 2”. You have to hit the bigger plate to move on to the smaller plate. If you hit all the plates, you will receive a blackjack of 21 points. Then you may continue if you have remaining rounds left to shoot the 2” plate, each hit on the 2” plate will give you additional 21 points.

The MODIFIED part is we are going to run it as a double elimination tournament. Tournament bracket positions will be picked randomly by the computer.  Two shooters designated by the tournament bracket, will shoot side by side.  The shooter with the highest score advances in the winner’s bracket.  The shooter with the lowest score moves to the loser’s bracket. In the event of a tie score, the shooter with the shortest time will be declared the winner. Meaning you have to lose twice before you are out of the running. This also means you will get to shoot AT LEAST 2 TIMES. But you may also shoot up to 6-9 times all depending on how many people and how well you do. This takes away the luck of the draw with shooting early in the morning under the best conditions. Everything will be fair when all shooters compete in the same environmental conditions as their opponent. So, bring your “A” game as competition will be tough. Match director or range master decisions are final.
